Beer belly edition

Ok, Somehow, there are many little things around home that let time fly so quick that I don't know how to organize myself better.

The venting-part:

I am able to do everything! Well, not lift heavy things, but otherwise my bump is just a part of me for now. Then again, I don't know if I have a sign on my head that says 'I am helpless'. I am not!!! This morning I had a quick run to hubby's office, the townhall, the supermarket and a few other places. One of the really nice parts about being pregnant is that you can almost rush through public buildings and people are nice and open doors and do some other goodies, like not letting you wait too long.

But the not so nice things are that there are people who really don't know when to stop. Even after I said 'No thank you' they wanted to be nice and almost took my shopping bags away to carry them for me. That's intruding into my comfort zone - with the best of intentions. And that's what makes it hard for me to stop them, because I know people want to help, :) and the bigger the belly, the more help. But this morning I had three 'No, thank you, no really not, no thank you'-moments within two hours.

I wonder what would happen if I did that to someone with a beer belly, looking as if ninth month!

If you need something funny, instead of venting, here is a belated mother's day video.

12th month
I wonder what it'll be...
Sorry for the beer :)

    1. Lol, yes, the picture is real. Who would his wife mean if she called her little pumpkin for lunch?!

  2. Hi Nina,
It can be trying when you're pregnant and everyone thinks you are a delicate flower. I think that people are often just in awe of the awesome work your body is doing and want to treat you with reverence like the queen you are. Nevermind how capable you may be :-) It will only get worse though. Also be prepared for tons of unsolicited advice from total strangers, hands touching your bump, and other ladies horrific birth stories! I can't even tell you how often this happened to me here in the US. Hopefully it is different for you!

    1. River, you are so sweet. I like this idea of being a delicate flower, ... but with thorns. And one who is able to do it all. :) So far I have had not much more than a few silly questions and I do know that people want to be nice. That's why I have trouble stopping them in time. It is far easier for me to stop them when they are rude. Urgh, the touching hand is what I really hate. I had one woman who I did not want to touch me and it lasted only a moment, but being touched like that is usually a no-go for me. If it's a woman it might depend on the situation, but with a man I'd like to have hubby nearby, because hubby would stop him immediately, since he knows that this is extremely scary for me. Lol, I only had a few shares of horror birth stories, but I am sure, I'll get many more up to October.

  3. I actually liked the bump. For the first time, I was supposed to have a belly. If it's not bothering you, let people help you. Babies are so exciting for everyone. And to add to what River says, after the baby comes, you'll really have people in your business.

  4. Leah, I really love my bump, I am very proud of it and I am not hiding it, on the contrary. :) But I have always preferred showing that I can do things myself. If the situation is right, I am also willing to accept help, and if there was anything heavy to carry around, I'd actually ask for help. Lol, I think I'll have to learn a lot more humility and tolerance when it comes to others who want to help or who want to see baby once she is there. I'll try hard.

    hugs

    Nina
