Woohoo,
today, we returned home from hospital. We, that is Hubby with Tilda - who is a
big sister now - and Katharina, our beautiful second baby! After making me wait
for nine days she finally thought it was about time to come last Friday, and
after a rather quiet start into labour it went pretty quickly, we took only a
good six hours from the first contractions to first kisses. She is sooo lovely
and sweet, and healthy and always hungry. :)
We have
already found out that she has a strong and loud voice, because after sleeping
away her exhaustion she has been crying a lot, for no obvious reason. I guess
the first nights at home will be shorter than short, but the doctor and midwife
reassured us that all is ok with our sweetie. And tonight, Kathy has finally fallen
asleep nicely without much fuss. :)
The
discussions about her names have not stopped once between hubby and me. She has
three names, like Tilda, and just like Tilda is just the short form for
Mathilda, Katharina will probably end up with a short form as well. I like Kate
a lot, probably because I am a fan of the British Princess, and there are some
that I cannot use, because that would be too confusing (Katie and Cat are two
nice ones that are already taken :) ! ).
Anyways, I'll try to catch up on you as soon as possible, but since the nights will be really short, I ask for leniency when my comments are completely lunatic! :) For now, we are just happy that Kathy is there and all went so well for us. ... Did I mention happy?! :)
Wishing you all a wonderful week!
So very happy for you, Nina! I understand how it can get confusing with the same names so how about Rina as a nickname? Just as you took the last letters of Tilda's name for hers. I know it's too early for tummy tickles but please give Rina plenty of hugs from Aunty Cat and of course lots of tummy tickles and hugs for Tilda. :D Take good care of yourself.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings...Cat
Hi Cat, we are still undecided, but Rina is another nice name. I guess it will just happen naturally. :) She'll get the hugs and Tilda will get both, hugs and tickles. Tilda loves these, it is such a fun time, playing and cuddling together. :)

Nina
I'm so thrilled for you Nina. I love her name, it is beautiful. Shame to shorten it, it's lovely the way it is but Kate is nice too.Wishing you the best and hope she lets her Mama get some sleep. Hugs to all.
ReplyDeleteHi Sunny, oh yes, Katharina is a beautiful name. But somehow we seem to shorten names in daily use here, and I tend to do that when I write about them. It happened to Mathilda's name, not even because it was what we wanted, but it happened. So I thought that might happen again. We'll see. :)
DeleteI had trouble sleeping before Katharina was born, and now I feel like sleeping all day, but do not always have the chance. However I have my best friend here at the moment and she keeps Tilda busy, so that I have some times during the day where I can get some sleep. So far, Katharina has been better here than in hospital, and that is pretty awesome too. And I do feel tired, but not like completely exhausted, so, the first days have been good here. :)

Congratulations to you all Nina, I'm so thrilled for you! :) What a beautiful name and I love both Kathy and Kate :) Take care of yourself, I hope bubs allows you to get some rest.
ReplyDeleteHugs to you all
Roz
Hi Roz, thank you, Kate wants her milk and her diaper dry, and lots of times to snuggle. We do that in bed and I do fall asleep then there, so I think this adds up to somehow almost enough sleep, though I feel pretty tired all day. :)

Congratulations Nina! I am so happy to read the birth went well and you are already home. Now to just get enough sleep!
ReplyDeleteSend me some of the magic baby dust please!
And I love both the girls names! Really do.
Hugs!
Hi Julia, thank you, I was a little afraid of a long time in labour, because my sister had that, and then they had to cut her open nevertheless. but somehow it was completely different for me, which I am happy about. Getting enough rest will remain a challenge over the next weeks, but I'll try hard to go to bed whenever I have the chance. Sending all the magic baby dust to you!

Hi DF, thank you, Katharina is a name from my side of the family, hubby chose one from his side of the family, the third one is a Scandinavian one again. Kate is such a beautiful name, and we had seriously thought about it as well, but maybe she will keep Kate as her nickname, we'll see. :)I'll be off to bed in a moment, because in less than two hours Kate will wake me again. :)

Nina
Oh yay!! Lovely and exciting! I'm just so happy for you all!!
ReplyDeleteMake sure you rest and listen to your body. Two little ones can be exhausting!
I bet the shortened version your sweetie ends up with will come naturally! Let us know!! Now enjoy every single moment!
Hi Minelle, I'll be good and try to sleep whenever possible. At the moment I have Amy here to support me, so that I can have some rest, but that will only be for a few days. I think we'll have to get used to this new situation, and I'll make sure that especially Tilda and I have our quality time, so that she feels loved and cared for.
DeleteOh yes, the shortened version will come naturally. :)

ReplyDeletelove Jan,xx
Hi Jan, thank you, I was so relieved that Kathy and I got through labour without additional troubles because my sister's labour and delivery was so much the opposite of mine. Actually the way her labour went scared me. Anyways, Kathy is here! :)

ReplyDeleteI say get as much sleep as you can while you've someone else around helping. Give them both kisses from me.
Hi Janey, thank you. I'll try to sleep whenever I can, tonight was ok, but I feel the lack of sleep this morning more than yesterday, so I'll sleep inbetween. :) Thank you for the kisses, giving them is wonderful!
