Sunday morning hammock edition

So, we have this new hammock. Hubby has tested it and found it safe. What took him so long about it was that it was very comfortable and his pleasant wife brought him something to drink, the newspaper and even some icecream. Yes, testing a hammock for safety is hard work and takes a lot of time, doesn't it? But finally, early afternoon (Saturday), hubby had proclaimed it safe enough for me. And I couldn't wait to get into it.

It definitely is safe. So, I do not fall out of it when I try to get in or out. No, the only problem that I had was when I was in it, I couldn't get out at all. It was too deep for me at first, and I felt almost as if I was immobilized. My attempt was good enough to make hubby laugh, because I was struggling like a beetle on the back. Since I was too deep down in it, the sides of the hammock came too high. Comfy, but a foolproof prison. I did not mind much at first, but after another ten minutes, I needed to get out, urgently. Hubby helped me, and once I was back, we put some cushions in and that was all it took. I could get out on my own, I could even sleep on the side, and I did.

Hubby woke me up early in the evening after two hours of uninterrupted sleep, so this one is going to be the place I'll be in often, I think. I could have slept longer, all in all, but I really do need to visit the bathroom a lot.

I don't know how long I can really use the hammock on my own, but just this summer would be great. It would not work for a whole night, because I am squeezed into it from the sides, if the cushions are not in the right spots, but it is lovely, sleeping in it has been easier than it has been for most days last week.

Here it is outside, in the garden, just the right place for a catnap :-)
(Picture problem: it seems that I have made it a high quality picture, so it loads really slowly, but you can see my swollen toes in detail :-)   )

Bonus: this hammock works on  Sundays !

  1. I love hammocks. Really hard to get in and out of though. Instantly sends me to sleep especially strung between a couple of trees, birds singing and leafy shade.

    1. DF, without the cushions it would be impossible for me to use the hammock at all. I am somehow not as agile as before. :-) And sleeping outside is wonderful. I love it, but I can’t do that at night.

  2. Haha, your picture is so funny--all we see is a tiny bit of your toes! So glad you can sleep in your hammock. I never found them to be suitable for sleeping--I have to be laying horizontal or in the car to get any sleep at all. I'm so jealous of people that can sleep on airplanes. Hope you have some restful afternoons in your hammock!

    1. Autumn, actually it was more like an accident that my toes are in it, because I tried to shut out all from the garden background. Hubby would not like to see any of it online. But sleeping in it works, with the cushions. I’ll use the hammock every day, as long as I can get in and out.

  3. I'm so glad its working for you for now! At the end I don't think there's any helping getting up every few hours, but for now, yay! And I was laughing pretty hard at your husbands comments, funny man :-)

    1. River, I really am like a beetle on the back in the hammock. So, when hubby takes the cushions out, I can’t do much at all, apart from sleeping. But sleeping on the back is not good at all. I am already up every few hours a night, and if you mean, this is going to be more, I’ll better go and get a loo with wheels :-) , so that I can take it with me. Hey, thanks for the sleeping dust, it worked well.

      love

    2. You are quite welcome :-P And screw the loo on wheels, there were times in my 9th month that I desperately wished i could just wear a diaper to bed!
