Daily life again

Tilda and I have been virtually confined to the walls of our house for a week by now. We have both caught a bad cold, but this time it was much easier for Tilda to cope with everything. For me too, because her breathing was not nearly as bad as the first time. We were told to slacken off  and so we did, with a few short trips to get fresh air. :) The worst of this infection is over and the real problem for us was more like that we were (are) not allowed to visit granny under any circumstances. Her immune system is too weak at the moment due to the chemo. She is strong and has even managed two calls this week and we are happy about it. There will be better times for us to spend time together. But the hugs are missing. :( I know I am greedy. But at the moment things are actually getting much much better for her, so we feel like everything goes the way we hoped it would.

Tilda is 20 weeks and 2 days old today. :) Imagine that, it almost feels like she has been here with us forever, almost. I wouldn't want to miss any moment with her and when you have time to think about these things ... wow. We are grateful and happy.
We definitely have been kept busy here. :) For the last week our honeybee has also started chewing like mad on her hand or any toy she could grab. I thought she might be getting closer to having her first tooth, but I am not sure as there are no other signs yet and at the moment I think her slightly uneasy nights are due to the infection. Well, besides, I could wait much longer for her first tooth, because of nursing (and because nip-torture is supposed to be hubby's department).

We are talking and singing an awful lot throughout the day, and I do not mean that I am the only one talking then! Tilda replies and tells her own stories in her own style of chatter. She even comments when I do some of the dishes in the kitchen. It is a kind of ritual for us and I do that simply because she loves it at the moment. Our dishwasher would usually hold more, but that would spoil the fun for Tilda. :) I put her into the baby carrier so that we face the same direction (kitchen sink), and I can smell her all the time because her hair is right at my nose. :) And when I do the dishes, we talk. She is always pretty excited about plates. She is ok with cups or glasses, spoons are fine,  but for some reason she enjoys plates, anything round and big. Maybe because she can put them into her mouth and chew them? Maybe it is that I have praised the advantages of plates too much? Dunno, but she wants them in her hands, no, in her mouth. Tasty! ;)
She cannot even really chew, because we have not started solid food yet, but she munches away on a good old plate, chewing, savouring the delicate flavor of clean pottery. Yummy.

I hope you all have a wonderful second half of the week!

    1. Hi Jan, you are so right, no idea where the last months went. This silly common cold has hit us just like so many people around, in England too, it seems. I am sorry that I brought up the chemo as a topic again, I thought it was ok, because at the moment we only get information when granny feels good enough and it is a little frustrating that a silly virus keeps us away from each other. But I didn’t want to remind you of old sorrows. Jan, I am really sorry if I did that. Things are getting easier around here I’d say and I’d hate myself if any of what I write would trouble you.

Change of topic! Your good news made my week, I have been smiling about your wonderful news ever since I read your entry. :)

  2. Hi Nina, sorry to hear you and Tida have been sick and hope you are both recovered soon. It's always scary when the little ones are sick. Loved reading about the fun you two have in the kitchen together. Very sweet:)

I'm sorry you haven't been able to visi Granny and glad that things are getting better for her. Continuing to send positive thoughts and prayers.

    1. Hi Roz, this silly virus is getting on both of our nerves, well at least on mine. :) Tilda had a few bad nights, but this was less scary than the cold she had before. Doing the dishes with Tilda is great fun, too bad I cannot let her play with the water there. :) Even though we couldn’t be with granny this week, we know she is weak and always tired but the docs say that’s ok. She will be better again. Roz, thank you for thinking of her, we are so grateful for all positive thoughts and prayers.

  3. Hope you're feeling better soon and can visit Granny.
I love the way you describe your interactions with Tilda. So many people describe their time with babies as chores or things that have to be done. You know to cherish everyone of those moments, regardless of how small they are.

    1. Hi DF, we are already much better, but we are not allowed to see granny yet. You are right, there are people who see time with babies as a chore. Well, I can sort of understand that in the middle of the night, or when many things have to be dealt with at the same time. But we had to wait ten years before she was finally there, so how could I want a baby so much and then see her as a chore?! :) No way! We feel so blessed just because she is there and as long as there is time for her alone, I want to enjoy that with her. I mean, when I start feeding Tilda solids my hormones will change back and the natural contraceptive will be gone for good and who knows how long I can give her undivided attention then. There could be a brother, a sister, another one and one more,…. :) So, for now, we are happy that we have these moments.

    1. Hi Jennelle, thank you, we are getting better bit by bit and I can't wait to see granny again when we are virus free. Tilda is cooing and babbling so much and I am very happy about that. It is fun to be with her, because she really recognizes hubby and me and unless she is tired or cranky for other reasons, we can play and have quality time with her. And for her everything is an adventure and she is easy to please. :)

    1. Hi Cat, we are much better again, hubby has stayed away from us for most of this time :( but he may have caught a cold nevertheless, so maybe this weekend we'll be fine again, but if he has a cold we cannot go next week to visit granny either. :( Now that it really is important that we are there for her we cannot go. I cannot tell you how bad that feels, and if I did I'd need my mouth soaped out afterwards.
But Tilda and I have great times doing housework together. This cheered me up a lot this week. I mean, I love playing and spending time with Tilda, but some of the things she does are just too funny. :) Thank you for your prayers and healing energy, I love that you do that for us and cannot tell you how much it means to me. Thank you! I hope you are doing fine and have a wonderful weekend.

      hugs and love
