After midnight rambling

The holidays are over, the excitement of Christmas and New Year’s eve have passed and everybody returns to their daily routine. That’s what it is like here and that’s one of the reasons why I have not blogged. In addition, the last days were packed with all sorts of appointments, duties, chores. You know what I mean, as it is probably the same everywhere.

But there have been additional news that made our whole week awesome. A friend of ours had had surgery and it was successful (I wrote about her in December). She will make it, the doctors could remove the cancer and sounded completely positive about her healing. This makes the beginning of 2015 absolutely fabulous. I have been smiling all through the week. She and everybody else was so relieved because she will be fine and she will still be able to become pregnant and have children too. :)

Oh, more rambling. Thursday my mom called unexpectedly and one of her friends and she popped in to kidnap Mathilda for around an hour. Well, almost. They had asked if it were ok to take her with them for a short walk. :) It was ok; since I had made such a fuss about these things before, everybody seems to have understood that I am touchy when it comes to being away from Tilda. But I was fine with it! … After asking when exactly they’d be back, double checking both of their mobiles and asking about their exact route. They had serious trouble not to laugh themselves silly because I must have sounded like a customs officer. I did not ask to see their passports, though. … I had no idea that I have this in me at all. But at least I was fine once the basics were settled. “And don’t forget to be back at 3.30 pm. Don’t be late, please.” … It seems I am already practising for later, when Tilda wants to go to the disco.
I do not worry about that yet, because I do know for sure that hubby will be there like a watchdog. ...  He will probably not allow her out at all when she is old enough to be interested in boys, until she’s 21 :D (doesn’t work, she’ll make her own experiences, no matter what; but why tell him?!).

At the moment the second storm in two days passes our house. It is noisy, as if Irish faeries are having a party. I think their party day is 5th January (St Ceara’s day), so maybe this is the aftermath? Well, hubby and Tilda don’t care at all, they are fast asleep while I cannot sleep because of the scary sounds. Tilda had a late night drink, and hubby did not bother at all.
Imagine this, the storm shakes the house and I am afraid that the roof will be torn off any moment or a cow will fly by. Hubby is snoring safe and sound. “No reason to worry, dear.” But any other night, there might only be a cat sneaking through the garden, something I cannot even hear, and he’s up immediately. I wish I had this ability; not the one where you sleep lightly, only that part where you sleep through no matter what. It must be a gift. :) Well, anyways, here it is long after midnight and I’ll try to imagine that the noise is harmless. So, goodnight everybody.

And I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday!

    1. Hi Sunny, last night was awful, but our Sunday was great. Hubby and Tilda were completely relaxed and I managed to have a cat nap. So, with a lot of cuddles, a few cookies and some salad my good mood was restored. :)

    1. Hi Cat, yes they were back in time and nevertheless I was already waiting and peeked out, to see them coming, phone nearby. But they really know that I am not good in these situations yet and we had a great time together afterwards.
Last night was really loud, but it is much better again now. The storm is only a very strong wind now, I have had a cat nap. This made a major difference and I am fine, just like hubby and Tilda, who had a rather good night, I’d say.

  3. That storm kept waking me up too, hearing the roof tiles rattling. Little One was a little scared that the house might blow away like in the Wizard of Oz.
P sleeps through erverything, burglar alarms, police helicopters, baby crying ☺
Glad your friends cancer was successful removed.

    1. Hi DF, my in-laws also had a rough night and I think England was hit worse than Germany. So, I can fully understand that your little one was afraid. I hope all is well again and your daughter and you could catch up on sleep in the morning. I assume that P was fresh and wide awake in the morning, as if nothing had been going on at night. :)
We are so happy about my friend. She is still on some medication that makes her dizzy and more, but that does not last forever. She’ll be fine.

    1. Hi Roz, our Sunday was wonderful with lots of family time. We are so happy about our friend’s recovery. She’ll be fine again.
I had thought about going with my mom and her friend, so that we would all go with Tilda, but they wanted me to have a little time for myself and I thought that Tilda would be fine with them. So, I had real freetime! :)

  5. Hi Nina, you make me laugh, your poor mum !! I am often alone at night because hubby works. I hate bad weather, fog and wind make me lay awake worrying until he is home safe. I never sleep well till he's home. Hopw you all have a nice Sunday

    1. Hi Jan, but I did say ‘please’ ! :) I think my mom and her friend did not understand it the wrong way. It is not that I don’t trust them, but I do like it much better when I know exactly where Tilda is.
I fully get that you don’t like being without your hubby at night. It is the same here and those nights when my husband is gone are bad ones, too, some are just because he might be on the road late, sometimes only because I miss him. Thank God this does not happen too often and I hope that your hubby doesn’t have to be away too often either.
Today we had some lovely family time, I hope yours was a great one too!

  6. Every time I read here it looks different. I have to double check I am at the right 'place'!

Now your Mom and friend were probably killing themselves laughing at your expense. I know this because when my niece had her first she was giving me this 'list' of things, and her husband just looked at her, " K ...she has 3 kids of her own, that she didn't manage to kill" But I remember the feeling. It subsides a bit. Especially after the second child. By the time you get around to the third, you are lucky if you know where they ARE in the house! LOL.

and....Ah yes, Man Ears. Far too convenient if you ask me. Barney claims that it is a clear conscience and not worrying about things you can do nothing about in the middle of the night. Pfft!

So happy to hear about your friend. "We" are in a waiting game right now with someone I hold very dear to my heart. I hope I'll be smiling from ear to ear soon too.

    1. Hi willie, I had to change something after Christmas, but I am not really pleased with the looks yet. So, chances are high it will look different again soon. :)
You are so right, my mom and her friend kept teasing me a little, nicely, when we talked after their return, because they understood me well and they had behaved the same with their first babies. Ha, so I am not alone! You are right with the three children rule, my younger sister had more liberties than my older sister and I, my parents were more relaxed all in all. And she and I had the best driving service ever. :)

LoL, so uninterrupted sleep is supposed to be the sign of a clear conscience?! How cheeky! I am sure hubby will agree with Barney immediately. Right, Pffft!

The news about our friend have been wonderful and she recovers every day. Due to her current medication she can only see in a blurred way. That sucks because she will have to endure this for a few more weeks, but it will pass and she will be fine again.
These days of waiting can be so horrible and I hope so much that your dear friend will recover completely.

      hugs
